OFA & Genetic Health Testing for American Staffordshire Terriers
The specific tests we require on every dog in our program before they're bred — and what each one screens for.
OFA Hips & Elbows
Orthopedic Foundation for Animals evaluation of hip and elbow joint conformation, to screen for dysplasia before a dog is bred. We don't breed a dog without a passing certification on file.
DM – Degenerative Myelopathy
A genetic panel that identifies whether a dog carries the marker associated with this progressive spinal cord condition, so we can avoid pairing two carriers.
NCL – Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis
A genetic panel for this inherited neurological condition. Like DM, it's recessive and can be carried without symptoms, which is exactly why testing (not observation) is what we rely on.
HUU – Hyperuricosuria
A genetic panel for a condition affecting urinary tract health. We test for it in every breeding dog and clear it before any pairing is planned.
How this shows up for you
Every puppy's price includes documentation of this testing for both parents — not a verbal assurance, actual results. If you'd like to see testing for a specific dog in our program before reserving a puppy or booking stud service, call or text 817-709-1336 and we'll walk you through it.
