We hold every dog in our own program to OFA hip and elbow certification plus DM, NCL, and HUU genetic panel clearances before they're bred — see our full health testing standards. We ask the same of any female coming to Flash. This isn't paperwork for its own sake; it's how you avoid passing preventable conditions on to an entire litter.

What we require before booking

Current OFA hip and elbow results, current DM, NCL, and HUU genetic panel results, and AKC registration for the female. "Current" means testing that reflects this dog, not a parent's results or an assumption that a young dog is probably fine. If any of this isn't in place yet, we're happy to point you toward reputable labs and OFA's process — we'd just rather do that before booking than turn a female away at the last minute.

Why we don't waive this

DM, NCL, and HUU are all recessive conditions that can be carried silently by a healthy-looking, healthy-acting dog. Hip and elbow dysplasia isn't always obvious in a young adult either. Skipping testing doesn't remove the risk — it just moves the discovery to a litter of puppies and the families who take them home. We're not willing to do that, even for an otherwise excellent female.
